Opeyemi Owolabi

Ph. D. Student

Opeyemi Owolabi received his bachelor’s degree in Electronic and Electrical Engineering from Obafemi Awolowo University, Nigeria, graduating with first-class honors and as the best student in his department. During his undergraduate studies, he worked with the Communications Research Group, where he developed a communication gateway using the LoRa module. He has authored multiple peer-reviewed publications, including works on microgrid efficiency, advanced anti-windup control methods, and parameter estimation for induction motors, with contributions published in IEEE Control Systems Letters, IFAC-PapersOnLine, the International Journal of Engineering Research in Africa, and IEEE conference proceedings. His research interests are in control systems and autonomy, with a focus on developing control strategies for safety-critical and intelligent autonomous systems. He is the recipient of the 2024 IEEE Aerospace and Electronic Systems Society Engineering Scholarship. Opeyemi is currently pursuing his Ph.D. in Electrical and Computer Engineering at the University of Florida under the supervision of Dr. Rushikesh Kamalapurkar, director of the Systems, Cognition, and Control Laboratory.
